I've been thinking of upping them for awhile. I got my first $100 commission recently (5 characters, full colour, full bg, in copics, on large copic paper) and even after proudly going on about my success to my illustration professor, she told me it still wasn't enough, and told me works like mine go for "$400". (WUT? No...)
I wont be pricing THAT high...! But I will have raise prices. $5-$30 for an original copic piece is beginning to be too cheap, in relation to the little amount of time that I have.
I've always had a hard time raising prices though, because 1. I know how many students watch me, I know it's hard to get a hold of that amount of money, 2. I never thought my work was worth that much and 3. what I hate most is when people say, "oh.. that much just for THAT?" (cos obviously 1. you don't know the value of money or 2. you don't realize how much time and effort it takes into making an illustration. I'm sorry for seeming like a stuckup prick, but I hate it when people say "that much just for THAT?" ...;A; )

You also have to keep in mind how much $10 means in the real world. When I commissioned one of my favorite artists when I was really young, I paid my $12 allowance and thought that it was so much to pay. But now when I look at it, good goddddd it was a deal. $10 doesn't mean as much to you when you get older.

So, I'm sorry to everyone, but I want this to be at least an on-the-side job someday, so I will need to make prices higher in order to pay for me to stay alive. >A>; Food and housing, and my school etc.

Another note to those commissioners, I will try to get them done asap. Once I finish up my school assignments + my index finger heals from a TORN LIGAMENT? ...Apparently?
